What each of us teaches you
You shoot with each of us across the day, in small rotating groups. Daniel and Stuss read the same streets from different angles. Here is what each one will work on with you.
Daniel Rachamim
Documentary · humanity
Daniel works documentary-first. Expect close-in time on faces and moments, on how to approach strangers without breaking what you are trying to capture, on reading a scene before pressing the button. He pushes you to engage rather than observe from a distance. Most of your rotation with him is on the street, working in pairs or alone with feedback in real time.
Stuss Helder
Beyond the Obvious · atmosphere
Stuss teaches the Beyond the Obvious method, a deliberate way of seeing past the first read of a scene. Expect work on reflections, geometric layering and atmospheric depth, treating one location as a place that holds multiple frames. The focus is methodical: building a visual language that holds together across an edit, not chasing single hero shots.
Daniel RachamimWhat you'll leave with
By the end of the day
One day on the street with both of us, then a fortnight to put it into practice. Here is what you take home.
- Approach strangers on the street without breaking the moment you are trying to catch
- Read a scene and anticipate the frame before you raise the camera
- Use reflections, layering and atmosphere to find the second image inside the first
- Build a series that holds together across an edit, not just single hero shots
- See your own choices more clearly, the first step to a signature that is yours
Stuss HelderFrequently asked questions
Before you book
- Who is this for?
- Anyone serious about street photography, from first-timers comfortable with their camera's basics to photographers with years behind them. Where you start shapes what we focus on with you, not whether you belong.
- What camera do I need?
- Your own, whatever it is. A DSLR, a mirrorless or an advanced smartphone all work. Bring a spare battery and a memory card.
- How much walking is there?
- The afternoon is spent on the street, on foot. Wear comfortable shoes. We keep a steady pace with breaks along the way.
- What if it rains?
- We shoot anyway. The street does not stop for weather and neither does the work. Some of the strongest frames come out of it.
- Is lunch included?
- Coffee and small refreshments are. Lunch is a short break to grab something nearby, on your own.
- Can I get a refund?
- Tickets are non-refundable and tied to this masterclass, but you can transfer your place to another person at no charge. In exceptional circumstances, like serious illness, email us directly and we'll sort it out.
- Is the video call critique part of the masterclass?
- Yes. It is the session two weeks on where the work comes together and the masterclass finishes, not an add-on. We pick a date that suits the group.
Refund and conduct
